書物研究家オットー・エギーの手で蒐集・解説・編纂されたもので、年代的には十二世紀から二十世紀まで800年にわたり、1121年付「アルメニア聖書」、1240年付「豆本聖書」、1310年付「パリ聖書」（以上いずれも彩色ヴェラム写本）はじめ、1495年刊「イタリア聖書」、1497年刊「コーベルガー聖書」（以上いずれもインキュナブラ）、1518年アルドゥス版ギリシア語「聖書」、1541年刊ルター訳独語「聖書」、1551年ヘブライ＝ラテン語対訳「聖書」、1596年刊ハンブルク版多国語「聖書」、1611年刊欽定訳英語「聖書」、1653年刊「真珠聖書」、1663年エルゼヴィル版「聖書」、1685年エリオット訳「インディアン語聖書」、1763年刊バスカーヴィル版「ケンブリッジ聖書」、1903－05年刊ダヴス・プレス版英語「聖書」、1924－27年刊ナンサッチ・プレス版英語「聖書」、1935年刊ブルース・ロジャース版「教壇用大型聖書」の原葉など、珍しい聖書の原葉（オリジナル・リーフ）が含まれている。
